All sorts of different dragons inhabit both the Dragon Realms and places outside of the dragons' kingdom. Here are a few examples...
Lifespan: 200+ years
Most dragons, whether they be fire or water, have been known to live very long lives. No one knows if they are immortal. The youngest dragons that have died of old age were a race of smaller sea dragons but most dragons can live hundreds of years yet still remain healthy as ever.
Appearance:
Dragons range from a serpent-like appearance to large beasts with magnificent wings. Most dragons have wings, even if they can only glide or use them under water.
Size:
Dragons can range from the size of large horses to twice the size of an elephant. The most common size is that of a small elephant.
Temperament:
The temperant of a dragon usually varies widely between species. Most dragons, particularly the old ones, are very intelligent and are believed to have surpassed human intelligence. They are an old race and very proud; they usually prefer to be with their own kind as opposed to other creatures.
Diet:
Carnivorous dragons will be satisfied with prey such as cattle and even whales. Sea dragons will be satisfied with fish and sea vegetation while herbivores graze in forests and in plains.
Habitat:
The habitat all depends on the dragon. Ice dragons will usually prefer the peaks of mountains while earth dragons like forests and so on.
Reproduction:
Dragons become sexually mature and full grown at only 6 years of age, which is still young by dragon standards. They are able to reproduce until death. These creatures will choose a mate for life and will only choose a new one if their former mate dies. They will typically have 1-3 eggs in a single clutch and they mate once every two years in the winter. The eggs hatch a season after they are laid, so it takes three seasons for dragon eggs to hatch.
Magical Abilities:
Most dragons have magical abilities, but they are small things such as controlling their respective element to a certain degree. Ancient, powerful dragons can sometimes transform into a few other creatures at will along with controlling their element.
